There are so many types of Fish curries found around us . Like ,
'Malabar Matthi Curry' ( Indian Fish curry) , 'Fish head curry' (this is a Singaporean dish) , 'Macchar Jhol' also spelled 'Macchar Ghonta' (this is a Bengali and Oriya fish curry) , 'Mas Hira' (this is Maldivian Fish Curry) and 'Malu Mirisata' (a fish curry derived from Sirilanka) .

Today I'm going to show you how to make easy Fish Curry with coconut and tamarind.
This curry is very easy to make, but very delicious in taste . This type of fish curry comnly made in my village Kudachi from
Karnataka .

Cooking time : 10 min
Total time : 40 min
Serving for : 5 to 6
Ingredients :
Fish pieces - 1 kg
Dried coconut - 1/2 piece
Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp
Coriander leaves- hand full
Tamarind pulp - 1/2 cup
Red chilly powder - 2 tbsp or as per taste
Salt - 1/2 tbsp or as per taste
Tumeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Chopped onion - 1/2 nos.
Oil - 2 tbsp
Garam masala - 1/2 tsp
Water - as required
How to make :
1. In mixy jaar add sliced dried coconut , Ginger Garlic paste , coriander leaves . Grind it , add little by little water in between make fine coconut paste .
2. Soak tamarind in water for half an hour , with your hand squeeze the pulp from tamarind, strain it and keep aside.
3. Wash the fish pieces drain the extra water from it and take out the fish pieces in bowl, add coconut paste , Tamarind pulp , chilly powder , salt and tumeric powder mix well keep aside for 30 min .
4. After 30 min add oil in pan when oil is heating up add chopped onion in it fry onion till golden brown in colour, then add marinated fish mix well with light hand cook for 5 min . Then add water mix with light hand add garam masala mix well close the lid cook for 5 min the switch off the flame.
5. Garnish with coriander leaves , serve hot with Jowar Roti and Rice .

* This fish curry is spicy curry, if you don't like to eat spicy curry you add red chilly powder as required.
* Eat this fish curry with Jowar Roti .
